Your first screenshot in Framio
Install Framio, capture a detail, and save your first annotated screenshot.
Start with one screenshot and one thing you want to explain. Framio keeps capture, annotation, and export in the same desktop workspace.
Install the app
Choose your operating system on the download page. On a Mac, choose Apple Silicon for an M-series chip or Intel for an Intel processor. Open the disk image and move Framio into Applications. On Windows, run the installer. On Linux, allow the AppImage to run as a program if your desktop requires it.
Installers appear as releases are published. If your platform has no download yet, there is not a published installer for it.
Allow screen capture
On macOS, enable Framio in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording. Some versions label this Screen & System Audio Recording. Restart the app if macOS asks you to. Linux may show a screen-sharing prompt, depending on your compositor.
Opening an existing image does not require display capture permission. You can start with a PNG, JPEG, or WebP file while setting up capture.
Capture a detail
Choose Capture area, or press Command/Control + Shift + P while Framio is running. Drag across one display, then confirm the area. Press Escape to cancel. Full-display capture and display selection are also available from the app.
Keep enough context for someone to recognize the screen. You can crop the image later if it includes more than you need.
Add context and save
Choose an arrow, a pin, or a highlight and mark the detail you want someone to notice. Move the mark if it covers a useful label. Use Undo if you change your mind.
Copy the result to the clipboard or use Save to export PNG or WebP. Save your changes before closing the image or opening another one.
Capture and annotation work without an account or an internet connection. Your screenshots are not uploaded by the current app.
